Lima Fashion Week 18

Lima Fashion Week 18

What I Wore:

Of course the first thought that comes to mind when attending a fashion event is... What do I wear? And my rule is: know yourself. You have to study yourself just as much as you would the designers of the shows you're attending. Why? Because this is the perfect time to express your personal style without any issues of feeling awkward or "extra". I believe you can go one of two ways with your attire. You can either go all out and express yourself because this is the time to do it, or go with the idea of less is more. I went with the latter of the two extremes, I know what looks good on me and what doesn't - including the styles that make me feel relaxed and bold. You never want to “compete” with the designers because you’ll lose, if anything you want to compliment the designer by wearing a past design, but don’t try and wear the current runway, it’ll seem tacky and out of touch. You don’t want to show up and look like you’re going to prom. Try and, always check to make sure there’s not a dress code or any preferences specified by the designer for his/her show. This is super important. Outside of that, ask yourself what are you most comfortable in? (Excluding your pajamas) Whenever I’m trying on clothes for everyday wear or even an event, I’m looking for 3 things, I call them...

The 3 C's:

  1.  Am I comfortable?

  2.  Does this compliment me?

  3. Do I feel confident?

If you’re not comfortable then you won’t be confident and people can easily see that. Find something that’s perfect for you and don’t worry about what others will be wearing. (Because you're not going to match anyone) You’ll most likely be spending a good amount of time standing, talking and going from show to show so it’s important to be comfortable.
Less is more for me, so I went with hard lines and a bold chic modern casual look. I wanted to make a statement with this unique Zara bag as my inspo piece. I used a mock gray Zara top and my super comfortable 7 For All Mankind Jeans to compliment the bag along with black Steve Madden boots. I accessorized with pulling my hair back into a chic bun and sported a pair of loud H&M earrings to really bring the relaxed bold look to life. This night was such a huge success and I enjoyed every second at Lima Fashion Week! Even made it in a magazine and newspaper El Comercio with both my first and last names spelled wrong... The joys of living in another country!

I was so blessed to be invited to attend the shows of two of my favorite designers by a friend who asked me to run his social media for the evening! Both Noe Bernacelli and Yirko Sivirich do amazing work, I'm never disappointed and always leave feeling refreshed and inspired.
